The Niger state Police command has confirmed the abduction of a newly-inducted radiographer, Basherah Ojedeyi, along with several passengers at Ibbi-Bussa, Niger State.
Ojedeyi, a graduate of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, was on her way to Osun State to begin her internship when she was seized. Family members said she became unreachable after her vehicle developed a fault in Mokwa. The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of \u20a6200 million for her release.
Police spokesperson DSP Wasiu Abiodun told reporters on Thursday evening that the incident happened on Monday, September 29, 2025, after gunmen attacked a police checkpoint.
\u201cAt about 11:30 a.m., suspected armed men attacked the police tactical team at Ibbi-Bussa Road. In the exchange of fire, the patrol vehicle was damaged, and a policeman sustained gunshot injuries. The attackers later blocked the road ahead and abducted passengers from about three vehicles,\u201d Abiodun explained.
