{"id":2286,"date":"2025-10-09T12:34:47","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T12:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/?p=2286"},"modified":"2025-10-09T12:34:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T12:34:47","slug":"police-arrest-four-suspects-for-motorcycle-theft-in-niger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/index.php\/2025\/10\/09\/police-arrest-four-suspects-for-motorcycle-theft-in-niger\/","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest four suspects for motorcycle theft in Niger"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a series of motorcycle thefts across the state.<br \/><br \/>In a statement released on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrests and detailed how operatives tracked down the suspects in separate operations.<br \/><br \/>According to Abiodun, the first incident occurred on October 3, 2025, around 9 p.m., when a resident, 23-year-old Michael Isah of the BYJ area, Kwamba, allegedly fled with his friend\u2019s TVS motorcycle with registration number ABJ 402 MV, valued at over \u20a61 million.<br \/><br \/><br \/>Police operatives attached to Maje Division were immediately alerted, and the following day, October 4, around 11:30 a.m., officers recovered the stolen motorcycle from Abubakar Sadiq Mutawakil of Kwamba, who was reportedly seeking a buyer for it.<br \/><br \/>\u201cHe was promptly arrested and confessed to the crime, leading to the arrest of the principal suspect, Michael Isah, who gave him the motorcycle for disposal,\u201d Abiodun stated.<br \/><br \/>In a separate operation, on October 2, 2025, around 4:30 p.m., officers attached to \u2018A\u2019 Division, Bida, arrested 23-year-old Adamu Mohammed from the Masaba area of Bida with a TVS motorcycle (GWA 346 VZ) suspected to have been stolen.<br \/><br \/>\u201cDuring interrogation, the suspect confessed that he stole the motorcycle from Ndasako village in Wushishi Local Government Area.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe rightful owner was contacted and confirmed the theft. The suspect has since been charged to court,\u201d the PPRO said.<br \/><br \/>That same day, at about 8 a.m., operatives from the Katcha Division arrested Abubakar Mohammed of Gudungu village via Agaie while riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle without a key along the Agaie\u2013Katcha road.<br \/><br \/>\u201cHe confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Cheche village in Katcha.
