The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Biu, has condemned the attack on FRSC personnel and operational vehicles in Jos, Plateau.<\/p>\n

A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal, Bisi Kazeem, on Friday in Abuja, said Biu made the remark while reacting to the recent attack on FRSC personnel.<\/p>\n

He described the act as unfortunate and uncalled-for, noting that the attack could have a demoralising effect on the operatives.<\/p>\n

Biu explained that the officials of the corps were carrying out their lawful duty of rescuing crash victims following a fatal crash that occurred on Bauchi Road Street, Jos, on April, 27 at 13.30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the crash involved a diesel laden tanker that instantly went into flames.<\/p>\n

NAN also reports that the crash killed 13 people, leaving 10 victims injured and burnt down eight motor vehicles, six tricycles and two motorcycles.<\/p>\n

Biu said the two teams detailed to carryout rescue of the crash victims were ambushed by sympathisers and suspected hoodlums.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey came out in their hundreds, burning down one FRSC patrol vehicle and damaging many parts of the ambulance that was to rescue the injured victims to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe attack also left three operatives with severe injuries on their heads and other parts of their bodies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Corps Marshal sympathised with the victims of the crash and called on the public to desist from further unprovoked attacks on FRSC personnel and its facilities both in the operational front and within its command premises.<\/p>\n

Biu, however, applauded the swift response of the Nigeria Police Force, and other security organisations who acted swiftly to calm the tension, disperse the angry mob and restore normalcy on the route.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
