Four suspects are now in police custody over the alleged brutal murder of Abdullahi Audu, the chief imam of Tsaragi community, in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state.
A statement by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Thursday, disclosed that \u201cOn November 4, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., one Ibrahim Gana \u2018M\u2019 aged 25 years, a resident of Sokunkpan Village in Tsaragi, who had been ill and on admission at a hospital, sadly passed away.
\u201cFollowing his death, his brothers Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud Gana accused the Chief Imam of the village Alh Abdullahi Audu, of being responsible for their brother\u2019s demise.
\u201c\u200eIn an act of mob violence, Muhammad Shaaba and Mahmud Gana allegedly mobilised several other individuals and attacked the Chief Imam with offensive weapons, leading to his death,\u201d the spokesperson added.
\u200eShe said police operatives swiftly commenced an investigation into the incident, and four suspects were arrested with efforts ongoing to arrest other individuals connected to the crime.
\u200eReacting to the tragic development, the Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo, warned against resorting to jungle justice or taking the law into one\u2019s own hands.
He declared that such actions are criminal and punishable under the law, urging the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police formation or via the command\u2019s designated channels.
\u200eAdekimi further reassured all residents of his unwavering dedication to maintaining peace, safety, and order across the state.
