The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspects and recovered stolen items, including motorcycles, a car, iron rods, and dangerous drugs in different parts of the state.
This was disclosed by the Command\u2019s spokesperson, SP Shi\u2019isu Lawan Adam, in a statement issued on Thursday evening.
According to him, recent operations have led to the dismantling of multiple crime syndicates, following timely intelligence, community support, and the quick action of police personnel.
One of the highlights of the operation occurred on June 15, 2025, when police received a tip-off from a resident of Kazaure about a break-in.
Unknown burglars had reportedly broken into two houses and made away with two red motorcycles\u2014a Daylong and a Boxer.
\u201cFollowing prompt action by Kazaure Division\u2019s personnel and neighborhood watch groups, the two stolen motorcycles were successfully recovered,\u201d SP Shi\u2019isu said.
Barely two days later, on June 17, security guards at a railway construction site in Kazaure tipped off the police about suspicious movement.
Officers intercepted a white Honda Accord with registration number KZR 626AA, loaded with 23 pieces of 45-inch iron rods, worth around \u20a6300,000.
The car was reportedly carrying five passengers. \u201cThe driver and one other escaped, while the remaining three were arrested,\u201d the police spokesperson revealed.
Further investigations exposed an inside job\u2014an employee of the company had allegedly colluded with the suspects to steal and divert the iron rods.
The exhibit was recovered, and four people are now under investigation.
Also on June 20, a Honda Civic was stolen from Yalwawa Car Wash.
Acting on credible intelligence, police traced the stolen vehicle to Mechanic Village in Dutse, where they arrested 38-year-old Musbahu Yakubu of Jahun. The suspect is in custody, and the case will be transferred to the SCID Dutse for further action.
A few days later, on June 27, two residents of Kamai village in Miga LGA were ambushed by hoodlums at Rami Bush and robbed of their red Boxer motorcycle.
Police, working alongside Hantsu Security Watch, quickly swung into action. Their efforts led to the arrest of 17-year-old Haruna Adamu of Kokosu Fulani settlement.
Officers recovered both the weapon used in the attack and the stolen motorcycle. An investigation is ongoing.
In a separate operation on June 28, police raided Gidan Ruwa Quarters in Kazaure and arrested 28-year-old Shamsiyya Muhammad.
She was accused of recruiting women and young people into criminal activities, pretending to be a vulnerable widow.
A search of her home reportedly uncovered 18 sealed wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other illicit drugs. Investigations are in progress.
In another case, a commercial motorcyclist was tricked and robbed by a suspect identified as Ibrahim Musa, 25, from Hadejia LGA.
The suspect allegedly lured the cyclist to Yalleman Town under false pretenses and fled with the motorcycle.
Fortunately, a fellow cyclist raised an alarm, and a crowd gave chase. They caught up with the suspect near Dakaiyawa Primary School and beat him before police arrived.
Officers rescued him, took him for medical attention at Nuhu Alfa PHC, and later took him into custody. The motorcycle was recovered in good condition.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Murtala Tijjani, praised the dedication of officers and community vigilante groups for their collaboration and resilience.
He reaffirmed the Command\u2019s commitment to fighting all forms of crime through proactive intelligence and quick response.
