The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and live ammunition in a major operation aimed at tackling crime in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command\u2019s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Base, Dorayi, following credible intelligence.
\u201cOne of the suspects, Isyaku Maude, 37, popularly known as \u2018Dan Sokoto\u2019, was arrested in Bachirawa Quarters, Kano,\u201d the statement read.
He was described as a suspected armed robber allegedly involved in a series of robbery attacks within the Kano metropolis.
\u201cThe suspect confessed to committing several armed robberies in different parts of Kano with members of his gang,\u201d the police said.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Sahabi Danladi, 20, of Kofar Mata Quarters, and Najib Ibrahim, 32, of Bachirawa Quarters.
During the operation, the police recovered a Beretta pistol, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, and 23 rounds of 9mm live ammunition from the suspects.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised their dedication and professionalism in the fight against crime.
\u201cThe Commissioner of Police appreciates the commitment of the officers and also thanks the good people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation,\u201d the Command, noting that investigations are ongoing and that further arrests may be made.
