{"id":4070,"date":"2026-01-13T09:18:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T09:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/?p=4070"},"modified":"2026-01-13T09:18:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T09:18:13","slug":"togolese-two-other-foreigners-nabbed-for-human-trafficking-visa-scam-in-ondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/index.php\/2026\/01\/13\/togolese-two-other-foreigners-nabbed-for-human-trafficking-visa-scam-in-ondo\/","title":{"rendered":"Togolese, two other foreigners nabbed for human trafficking, visa scam in Ondo"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old Togolese, John Apiah, for allegedly engaging in human trafficking and visa scams in the state.<br \/><br \/>Apiah was arrested alongside two other foreigners identified as Blessings Assiah, 22, and Laro Larisa, 21, in Oda axis of Akure South Local Government Area of the state.<br \/><br \/>According to Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Jimoh Abayomi, the prime suspect, John, had used the two accomplices, who are female, to lure the victims to Nigeria.<br \/><br \/>The police spokesperson added that the three victims, Kanate Dekadja, 35, Charity Paketerima, 27, and Mohammed Assiah, 25, were extorted for the sum of 1.6 million CFA under the pretence of helping them to procure international passports and American visas.<br \/><br \/>Abayomi added that the victims were rescued following incredible intelligence that the victims were kept in an apartment in Oda town under suspicious circumstances.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe Commissioner of Police reiterated that the Command has repeatedly warned landlords and property owners to conduct proper background checks on prospective tenants and to be vigilant against allowing their premises to be used for criminal activities, stressing that such negligence would attract serious legal consequences,\u201d the PPRO stated.<br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old Togolese, John Apiah, for allegedly engaging in human trafficking and visa scams in the state.
