Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Ayomide Oluwadamilare for allegedly killing his former boss, Kola Adun, and attempting to sell his car in Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, aged 25, was a former driver to the deceased.
The Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, while confirming the arrest on Tuesday, said the suspect, in an attempt to rob the deceased, stabbed him to death and fled with his Toyota Camry with registration number LAGOS AAA 193 GC.
The spokesperson stated that the suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle to a car dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu.
According to her, the command had on Monday received a distress call reporting an unusual stench emanating from the deceased\u2019s residence, and officers, on arriving at the scene, found Adun\u2019s lifeless body on the floor, bearing visible stab wounds.
She said, \u201cOn July 7, 2025, at about 1 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer of Ojodu Abiodun Division received a distress call from Mubarak area in Akute, reporting unusual stench emanating from a residence.
\u201cOfficers immediately responded and proceeded to Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, where they forced entry into the premises and found the lifeless body of Mr. Adun on the first floor, bearing visible stab wounds.
\u201cBloodstains were discovered at the scene, and his Toyota Camry with Reg. No. LAGOS AAA 193 GC was missing.
\u201cSuspicion was raised on Sunday morning, July 6, when a friend of the deceased went to pick him up for church service and discovered that the gate was locked from the outside and calls to the victim went unanswered before the phone was switched off. He alerted the family and reported the matter at Ojodu Abiodun Police Station.
\u201cPreliminary investigation indicated that his former driver, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, 25 years old, unlawfully entered the residence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the intent to rob. He stabbed Mr. Adun to death and fled with the deceased\u2019s vehicle.\u201d
The suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle to a car dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. The dealer, suspicious of the suspect, contacted the police, leading to the suspect\u2019s prompt arrest at the point of sale.
The police spokesperson noted that the corpse was deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for autopsy, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
