{"id":5298,"date":"2026-03-18T16:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/?p=5298"},"modified":"2026-03-18T16:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:21:11","slug":"igp-disu-presents-%e2%82%a62-4bn-cheques-to-families-of-fallen-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/index.php\/2026\/03\/18\/igp-disu-presents-%e2%82%a62-4bn-cheques-to-families-of-fallen-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"IGP Disu presents \u20a62.4BN cheques to families of fallen officers"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230; Reaffirms commitment to personnel welfare<br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has presented cheques to One Thousand and Seventy-Five (1,075) beneficiaries and next-of-kin of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, at a ceremony held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.<\/p>\r\n<p>The cheques, amounting to a total sum of Two Billion, Four Hundred and Thirty-Five Million, Four Hundred and Twenty-One Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Four Naira, Eleven Kobo (\u20a62,435,421,584.11), cover policy years 2018\/2019, 2020\/2021, 2021\/2022, 2022\/2023, as well as 2024\/2025 and 2025\/2026, including outstanding insurance claims recovered from previous years.<\/p>\r\n<p>Speaking at the event, the Force Insurance Officer, Lydia Ameh, said the disbursement reflects the resolve of the IGP to prioritise the welfare of officers and their families.<\/p>\r\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5307 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/DI-300x200.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"645\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/DI-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.securityfocus.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/DI.webp 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px\" \/> <br \/><br \/>She explained that the payments were largely the result of efforts to recover long-standing insurance obligations, noting that decisive measures had been taken to compel compliance from insurance providers and eliminate delays in claims settlement.<br \/><br \/>Ameh further assured that the Force Insurance Unit remains committed to transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery in managing welfare-related processes.<br \/><br \/>In his remarks, IGP Disu described the ceremony as a solemn acknowledgement of the sacrifices made by officers who died in the line of duty.
