Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged homicides in separate incidents in Damaturu.
The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen.
According to him, the first incident occurred on April 7, 2026, when the A Division Police Station, Damaturu, received a distress call regarding a violent attack in the Bindigari area.
\u201cPreliminary investigation revealed that one Adamu Suleiman Saidu, 33, was allegedly attacked by Musa Mohammed, also known as \u2018Aljan\u2019, 24, following a misunderstanding believed to be connected to substance abuse.
\u201cDuring the altercation, the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with an axe, inflicting severe injuries to his head, while the suspect sustained minor injuries during the fight,\u201d he said.
SP Abdulkarim further stated that police operatives mobilised to the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the axe used in committing the offence, which has been registered as an exhibit.
\u201cThe victim was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Damaturu, for medical attention, but sadly died while receiving treatment,\u201d he said.
In a similar incident, he said officers attached to C Division responded to a distress call involving a violent fight between Al\u2019amin Abdullahi Musa, 20, of Abari, and Ibrahim Abdullahi, 21, also of Abari.
\u201cThe dispute reportedly started over a borrowed T-shirt, which escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, punches were exchanged, causing one of the parties to fall unconscious,\u201d he added.
The command spokesperson noted that police operatives rushed the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. He confirmed that Abdullahi Musa has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
