The police in Osun State have arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction of a Fulani herdsman, Yahaya Sulaiman, in Ijebu Jesa.
Sulaiman, who was kidnapped earlier in the week, has reportedly regained his freedom after the payment of an undisclosed ransom.
It was gathered from sources that the herdsman was abducted by gunmen who had initially demanded N70 million for his release.
Confirming the development, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the victim had been rescued and a suspect was in custody.
\u201cSulaiman was rescued by the police, and a suspect arrested in connection with the incident is currently with us,\u201d Ojelabi stated.
A security source disclosed that Sulaiman was released on Thursday after a substantial ransom had been paid.
\u201cHe was released on Thursday. They collected a huge amount of money before letting him go,\u201d the source said.
The source revealed that one of the suspects involved in the abduction had been apprehended by security operatives.
