The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved a fresh deployment of 10 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to various strategic commands and departments in a move aimed at strengthening operations across the Nigeria Police Force.
The redeployment was announced in a \u201cMost Immediate\u201d wireless message issued by the Force Headquarters Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, July 27, 2026, directing all affected police formations to implement the changes without delay.
Under the new postings, AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi has been assigned to Zone 9 Command in Umuahia, while AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam will serve as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.
AIG Bassey Samuel Ewa has been deployed to Zone 15 Command, Maiduguri, while AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor takes over Zone 3 Command in Yola. AIG Monday Agbonika has been posted to Zone 5 Command, Benin.
The Inspector-General also appointed AIG Daniel Edobor Iyamah as the new Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
In the latest shake-up, AIG Isah Danladi Nda was posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Kaduna, while AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima will oversee the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.
Also affected by the exercise are AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua, who has been deployed to Zone 6 Command, Calabar, and AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, who has been assigned to head Zone 8 Command, Lokoja.
The Force Headquarters instructed departments responsible for personnel administration, establishment matters and official records to immediately update their databases to reflect the new appointments.
The signal was distributed to all police departments, the 17 zonal commands, commissioners of police across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, tactical units, training institutions, police colleges and other formations for compliance.
