A security officer, identified as Stanley, was reportedly shot dead during a suspected cult-related attack at Royale Estate in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Friday night when gunmen stormed the estate and opened fire before fleeing the area.<\/p>\n
According to a source familiar with the incident, the attackers arrived at the estate between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. and allegedly shot Stanley, who was on duty as a security officer.<\/p>\n
The source, who requested anonymity over security concerns, claimed that the victim was shot several times, including in the head.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just stormed the estate and started shooting. Stanley, the security man on duty, was shot several times, and in the head too, before they shot in the air and fled the area,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n
The incident subsequently generated reactions on social media, including on NaijaConfra, where users shared posts and videos alleging that suspected cult members were behind the attack.<\/p>\n
However, the Lagos State Police Command has not publicly confirmed that the incident was cult-related.<\/p>\n
The command\u2019s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the shooting on Monday, saying preliminary information indicated that the victim was attacked by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe incident occurred. He was shot by two unknown individuals on a motorcycle. The command has launched an investigation into the incident. No suspect yet,\u201d Adebisi said.<\/p>\n
