The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Balarabe Adamu over the alleged defilement of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
The Command said the incident was reported on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at about 5:34 p.m.<\/p>\n
According to the police, Adamu, a resident of Lame in Toro LGA, allegedly sexually abused the infant after she was brought to his residence by his wife.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe baby was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment following the alleged incident,\u201d the police said.<\/p>\n
The Command\u2019s operatives attached to the Gumau Division subsequently responded to the report and arrested the suspect.<\/p>\n
He is currently in police custody while investigation into the allegation continues.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged act, describing it as unacceptable.<\/p>\n
He assured the public that the police would conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the suspect is prosecuted if the allegation is established.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe case will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion, in accordance with the law,\u201d the Commissioner said.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner also reiterated the Command\u2019s \u201czero-tolerance\u201d policy towards sexual violence and child abuse.<\/p>\n
He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of child abuse to the nearest police station.<\/p>\n
