The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32 year old woman, Ogechi Ofoma, over the alleged brutal abuse of her seven year old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

The child was rescued on Sunday, September 13, 2026, following the intervention of security personnel from Ibollo Community, Awada Obosi, and concerned residents who reportedly discovered the alleged abuse.<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to Ikenga, \u201cthe police received a report in the evening of September 13 concerning alleged child abuse and severe bodily injuries sustained by the seven year old.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the child had allegedly been subjected to severe physical abuse, including injuries reportedly inflicted with a hot knife.<\/p>\n

Ikenga said following the intervention of community security personnel and residents, the child was rescued from further harm, while her mother was arrested and police action commenced immediately.<\/p>\n

He assured that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly and professionally, stressing that the welfare, safety and best interests of the child remained paramount.<\/p>\n

The police spokesperson added that the command would ensure that appropriate action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
