The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle carrying military uniforms, boots, hats and cartons of suspected illicit drugs.<\/p>\n
The operation was carried out on Friday, September 18, 2026, by operatives of the Command\u2019s Anti-Cult Unit in Asaba.<\/p>\n
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday.<\/p>\n
According to Edafe, the police received information that a Sienna vehicle carrying suspected illicit drugs and military items was travelling from Onitsha towards Ondo State.<\/p>\n
Following the information, the operatives monitored the route and intercepted a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA at about 4:50am.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was being driven by 45-year-old Isaac Urji from Abia State.<\/p>\n
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of cartons of suspected Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, as well as military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.<\/p>\n
The driver was arrested and taken into custody.<\/p>\n
The police said investigation had started to determine where the items came from, where they were going and identify other people linked to the consignment.<\/p>\n
In a separate operation, the police arrested two suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation in Ika South Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Destiny Okafor and 22-year-old Sunday Bryan, were arrested on September 18 at Alisheme Community.<\/p>\n
The operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Sector III, Ubulu-Uku, following information about suspected kidnappers and cultists operating in the area.<\/p>\n
The police said preliminary investigation showed that the suspects claimed to be members of the NBM Confraternity.<\/p>\n
Items recovered from them included a locally made single-barrel gun, a battle axe, two cutlasses, mobile phones and a laptop.<\/p>\n
The suspects remain in police custody as investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Also, on September 15, the police arrested four suspected cultists during an operation in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Issele-Uku Division, with support from the Police Anti-Cult Unit, vigilantes, hunters and Forest Security personnel.<\/p>\n
Two locally made pistols, one pump-action gun and six live cartridges were recovered during the operation.<\/p>\n
The police said investigation into the cases is ongoing.<\/p>\n
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, said the command would continue intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, cultism and the spread of illegal firearms across the state.<\/p>\n
