A 49-year-old man, Balamau Lardi, has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly stabbing his wife, Biyagwal Balamau, in the ribs.<\/p>\n

The Adamawa State Police Command said on Thursday that the suspect allegedly stabbed his 37-year-old wife with a knife at Kurnyi Tudu Village in Guyuk Local Government Area.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the command\u2019s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23.<\/p>\n

The statement said the police received information about the incident and operatives of the Guyuk Divisional Police Headquarters immediately mobilised to the scene, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.<\/p>\n

It added that the victim sustained grievous injuries to the left side of her ribs and was evacuated to a medical facility, where she underwent surgery and is receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigation continues, the command said.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemned the alleged act of gender-based violence and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for diligent investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
