The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two suspected transformer cable vandals in the Tanke-Iledu community of Ilorin, the state capital.<\/p>\n
The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, ASCI Ayoola Michael Shola, disclosed this in a statement, identifying the suspects as Nurah Abdullahi, 20, popularly known as Hartabo, and Sherif Abdullahi, 23.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested on October 5, 2026, following a credible intelligence tip-off and an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the command.<\/p>\n
Items recovered included vandalised transformer cables, cable outer and inner peels, a Bajaj motorcycle, a saw, a knife and a pair of electrical gloves, among other materials considered relevant to the investigation.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly linked to the vandalisation of electricity infrastructure in the Tanke-Iledu community.<\/p>\n
The command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other individuals suspected of involvement in the alleged criminal activities.<\/p>\n
The State Commandant, Abbas Ndah Mohammed, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure across the state.<\/p>\n
Mohammed reiterated his determination to ensure that Kwara State does not become a haven for vandals, criminals or economic saboteurs.<\/p>\n
He assured residents that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations to identify, arrest and investigate individuals involved in activities capable of threatening public safety and critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The commandant also warned those involved in the vandalisation of public infrastructure to desist from such acts, stressing that the NSCDC remained committed to protecting government assets and safeguarding the socio-economic well-being of the people of Kwara State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
