The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Mujahid Danjuma, over the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in Dass Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13, following efforts by police operatives to track him down after he allegedly fled following the incident.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the case was initially reported on September 28 by the victim\u2019s 30-year-old mother, a resident of the Bundot area of Dass LGA.<\/p>\n
The mother alleged that the incident occurred on September 25 at about 5 p.m., when Danjuma allegedly lured her daughter into an uncompleted building in the area and sexually assaulted her.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim was rushed to General Hospital Dass where she was examined and penetration was confirmed,\u201d the police statement said.<\/p>\n
The command said the suspect fled to an unknown destination after the alleged incident but was subsequently arrested following intelligence-led policing and persistent efforts by operatives.<\/p>\n
The police confirmed that Danjuma was in custody as of Tuesday, adding that he would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for further investigation and prosecution.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reassured residents of the command\u2019s commitment to tackling crime and protecting vulnerable persons across the state.<\/p>\n
He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.<\/p>\n
