The Probe Panel Report on suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, has been submitted to the Police Service Commission (PSC), after six months of investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The report was submitted by Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abba Kyari was investigated over his alleged role in a $1.1m internet scam by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, aka Hushpuppi, and four others.<\/span><\/p>\n

This followed Kyari\u2019s indictment by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), which recommended that he be extradited to the US for trial.<\/span><\/p>\n

A member of the PSC, Braimoh Adogame Austin, on Sunday disclosed to journalists that the commission would deliberate on the issue this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

In June 2020, Hushpuppi and his gang were arrested by the Dubai Police at the United Arab Emirates.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was alleged by an FBI Special Agent, Andrew Innocenti, that Hushpuppi contracted Kyari after a \u201cco-conspirator,\u201d Chibuzo Vincent, allegedly threatened to expose the alleged $1.1m fraud committed against a Qatari businessman.<\/span><\/p>\n

The suspended DCP initially debunked the allegations on July 29 via his Facebook page, but later deleted it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The PSC carried out Kyari\u2019s suspension on July 31 as recommended by the Inspector General of Police.<\/span><\/p>\n

On August 2, the Special Investigation Panel headed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike, was constituted by the IGP to probe the allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Egbunike on August 26 submitted the panel\u2019s report, which he said \u201cis an outcome of a painstaking, transparent and exhaustive investigative process.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He revealed that the report contained the case file of the probe, evidence and findings as well as testimonies from Kyari and other persons and groups linked to the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, on September 14, during a television interview, said the findings and recommendations on Kyari had been submitted to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), for \u201clegal opinion\u201d and thereafter for presentation to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the final decision would be taken by the PSC.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a member of the PSC, Austin: \u201cThe IGP has submitted Abba Kyari\u2019s report to the PSC and deliberations on the matter will commence this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t tell you when it was submitted but it\u2019s now with the commission.\u201d He said.<\/span><\/p>\n
