Man arrested for allegedly raping his wife’s 15-year-old niece in Lagos

The Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command, has arrested a 46-year-old man, Ibrahim Gafaru, for allegedly def!ling his wife’s 15-year-old niece.

The police said before his arrest, the suspect had r3ped the minor twice last year.

According to the police, the suspect first def!led the teenage girl on December 5, 2024 and repeated the act the next day when his wife was away.

Spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said the case was received at the Gender Unit Ikeja, through a referral letter from the Domestic and S3xual Violence Agency (DSVA).

Hundeyin said the referral letter, which was addressed to the commissioner of police Lagos state, was dated February 20, 2024, on behalf of the 15-year-old survivor.

“The case is against one Ibrahim Gafaru, aged 46. The survivor alleged that on the 5th and 6th of December, 2024 the alleged perpetrator, who is the husband to her aunt, forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, hence the referral letter. The case was accepted while investigation commenced,” the PPRO added.
