A coordinated joint security operation has led to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims and the arrest of one suspect in Ebubu-Eleme Forest, Rivers State.
The victims Yeye Obe Ogosu, Martha Yanwi, and Praisegod Ogosu were abducted on June 27 at about 8:00 p.m. by suspected kidnappers operating within the Eleme axis.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS) launched a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout on June 29 at about 9:00 p.m.
The victims were rescued unhurt during the swift operation, while one of the suspected kidnappers, identified as Usman Abubakar, was apprehended at the scene.
Security sources revealed that a sum of N200,000 was recovered from the suspect, believed to be his share from a N1 million ransom earlier paid by the victims’ family prior to the operation.
The successful rescue is attributed to effective inter-agency collaboration and rapid response efforts, as authorities continue to pursue the remaining members of the gang.
