Police bust car theft syndicates, recover two stolen vehicles in Kano

The Kano State Police Command says it has made a major breakthrough in the fight against organised crime with the arrest of three suspected car thieves and the recovery of two stolen vehicles in separate operations.

According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, and issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the arrests and recoveries followed diligent investigations and intelligence-led operations.

In one of the cases, a dark ash-coloured 2013 Toyota Corolla that was reported stolen on August 4 from a car stand along Katsina Road, Kano, was recovered on August 30. Police said the suspect, identified as Zubairu Usman, was tracked, and the vehicle was later found abandoned at Kabuga Flyover in Kano.

In a separate incident, a Toyota Hilux stolen on August 25 from a residence on Hadejia Road, Kano, was traced through technical intelligence and collaboration with the Taraba State Police Command. The vehicle was found in the possession of a Taraba-based car dealer, Yallah Kadara, 43, who admitted purchasing it from a man identified as Alamin Tasiu, said to be the principal suspect. Two others, Jacob Augustine and Sa’adu Bello, were also arrested for their alleged roles in selling the stolen Hilux.

Commending the detectives for their professionalism, CP Bakori urged Kano residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. He also reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that the fight against organised crime remains a top priority.
