Osun Amotekun nabs notorious murderer, kidnapper after gun duel

The Osun Amotekun Corps has arrested one Ayoola Samuel Awe, aka Bishop Awasere, a notorious murderer and kidnapper in the Isokun area of Ilesa.

The 42-year-old Awe, who is on the wanted list of security agencies in Osun State, was reportedly captured after his gang engaged operatives in a gun duel on Saturday evening, September 6, 2025.

This information was revealed by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele, in a statement on Sunday in Osogbo.

Omoyele said, “At about 1759hrs, our men tracked the suspect to his rendezvous point. His gang attempted to resist arrest, but they were overpowered through strategic decoys.

“The fierce exchange of gunfire reportedly lasted several hours, as the operatives closed in on the suspects. One of Awe’s close associates was also arrested during the operation.”

Omoyele confirmed that the arrest was the result of coordinated intelligence and persistent tracking by security operatives.

“This operation took several hours and yielded significant dividends. The principal suspect and one of his cohorts are now in custody.

“During the operation, Amotekun operatives recovered a quantity of hard drugs and assorted charms from the suspects. The items are now in evidence as part of ongoing investigations.

“The recovered exhibits will aid investigators in unravelling the full extent of the suspects’ criminal activities,” the corps commander explained.
