Police foil robbery attempt in Akwa Ibom, arrest suspect

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police command have foiled an armed robbery attack in Abiakpo Ntak Inyang village, Ikot Ekpene Local government area and arrested one of the suspects.

The command Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Uyo on Sunday

She said the operatives swung into action following a distress call from a concerned citizen alerting them of the attack.


According to her, “the report stated that two residents, (names withheld) were under attack by two armed individuals wielding a jackknife and a machete.

“A police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene. The officers quickly apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Ubong Victor Elijah, a native of Ikwen village in Obot Akara LGA, who resides in Ikot Obong Edong village.

”The second suspect, known only as Wisdom, fled the scene and remains at large. During the arrest, a black face mask and two jackknives were recovered.”

She said the victims, who sustained multiple stab wounds, have been rushed to the Hospital for medical attention even as she noted that an investigation was ongoing and efforts made to locate the second suspect.
