12 bandits killed, 2 soldiers injured during gun battle in Katsina

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised 12 bandits during a gun battle at Mabai village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to a post shared on X on Tuesday, the incident happened on Sunday at about 5:30 p.m., shortly after a peace accord meeting held at Kakumi village in Bakori Local Government Area.

It was reported that the bandits, while passing in front of a military base at Mabai engaged the troops in a fierce gun duel, which resulted in the death of 12 of the attackers.

Two soldiers were said to have sustained serious injuries during the encounter and were taken hto a medical facility in Katsina for treatment.

Makama added that the situation in the area has since been brought under control, as troops continue to conduct patrols and monitoring operations to prevent further attacks
