Lagos Taxi Driver Arrested For Alleged Serial Rape And Robbery

Crack detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, under the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a suspected serial rapist and armed robber identified as Adedayo Ben Adegbola, following multiple reports of rape, assault, and robbery against female passengers across the state.

The police confirmed that Adegbola, who had been linked to viral social media posts showing his image, was apprehended by operatives of the SCID after a painstaking and intelligence-driven investigation.

In a statement released on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the arrest followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered an immediate and thorough probe into the disturbing cases reported by several victims.

According to the statement, Adegbola was arrested on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 9:40 a.m., after coordinated efforts by joint investigation teams within the SCID.

The suspect’s operational vehicle, a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, which was allegedly used in perpetrating the crimes, was also recovered.

“The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations are being intensified to apprehend other accomplices believed to have participated in the commission of these crimes,” the statement read.

The police disclosed that the recovered vehicle has been secured as an exhibit and will be presented during the prosecution process.

Victims who may have suffered similar attacks have been urged to visit the SCID, Panti, to provide information and evidence that could aid the ongoing investigation.

The command assured that all victims’ identities will be fully protected.

Reaffirming the Lagos State Police Command’s dedication to justice and public safety, CP Olohundare Jimoh vowed that the command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the suspect and his collaborators face the full weight of the law.

He also pledged that updates on the case will be provided as investigations progress.
