Lagos Police Probe Murder After Missing Motorcyclist Found Dead

Lagos State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the brutal killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Afesomu Amos, whose dismembered body was found in Ade-Odo, Ogun State, a week after he was declared missing.

Amos, a well-known resident of Ajara-Vetho in Badagry, reportedly went missing on October 24, 2025, after dropping off a passenger at Erekiti.

According to his brother, Samuel Afesomu, the deceased had called his wife around 7:30 p.m. that day to inform her he was heading home. Shortly after that call, his phone went off, and all efforts to reach him proved abortive.


Police investigations later led to the recovery of Amos’s motorcycle, after which three suspects were apprehended while allegedly attempting to sell it.

During interrogation, one of the suspects reportedly confessed that the motorcycle was linked to another accomplice, prompting a wider manhunt.

In a joint operation coordinated by detectives from Ikeja and Badagry Police Divisions, the prime suspect was tracked and arrested in Makoko, Lagos.

He later led investigators to Ikogale-Obakobe, Ado-Odo, where Amos’s mutilated remains were discovered.

Confirming the development, Samuel said the family had been informed by police about the sequence of arrests and the eventual recovery of his brother’s body.

“On Thursday, we were told another suspect had been arrested. Then, on Friday, police called to inform us that my brother’s body had been found,” he said.

The victim’s widow, now left with six children, broke down in tears while speaking about the family’s ordeal.

“I don’t know how to care for our children alone. I am pleading for help to continue my business and support my family,” she said.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to identify other accomplices and determine the motive behind the gruesome murder.
