Police nab prime suspect in the murder of retired judge in Delta

Operatives of Homide Section, Delta State Police Command, led by CP Olufemi Abaniwonda have arrested a 25-year-old security guard, Godwin Mngumi who allegedly murdered a retired Judge, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday in Anambra State.

The operatives also recovered the mobile phone of the deceased judge from him.


Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement on Sunday.

According to Edafe, “On 6th December, 2025, Operatives of homicide section of State CID, Delta State Police command acting on intelligence has arrested one Godwin Mngumi, aged 25 years, the security who allegedly murdered Justice Ifeoma Okogwu (Rtd) and the phone of the late, Rtd justice has also been recovered from him.

“He confessed that he invited his friend one Nnaji Obalum and one other suspect at large over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together.

“Nnaji Obalum has also been arrested while the manhunt for the third suspect is ongoing.”
