The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested five suspects linked to kidnapping and cattle rustling during intelligence-led operations across parts of the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the command said the arrests were made on December 14, 2025, in Kiru and Tsanyawa local government areas by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other units.

According to the police, officers acting on intelligence cordoned off Rahma Round in Kiru Local Government Area and arrested four suspects. One of them was identified as Shafiu Ibrahim, 25, from Auchanawa village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The police said Shafiu confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang and to his involvement in a series of cattle rustling incidents.

A TVS motorcycle was recovered from him, while the other three suspects are currently under investigation for various felonious offences.

In a related operation, a joint team from the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Tsanyawa Police Division arrested Bishir Umar, 24, from Karaduwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, at Mahuta village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area.
