Police Recover Stolen Vehicle From Suspected Armed Robber

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a stolen Toyota Prado Sports Utility Vehicle in Karu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, identified as Chigozie Samuel, a resident of Auta Balefi in Karu LGA, was arrested by officers attached to the Mararaba ‘B’ Division following what the police described as credible intelligence on the location of the stolen vehicle.

According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that Samuel allegedly carried out the robbery alongside two accomplices who are currently at large.

The suspects were said to have attacked the driver of the Toyota Prado at gunpoint at Wuse Bridge in Abuja, before escaping with the vehicle.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement said operatives acted swiftly after receiving actionable information on the vehicle’s movement.

“Police operatives immediately launched a coordinated manhunt, which led to the tracing and interception of the stolen Toyota Prado behind the International Market, Karu,” he said.

Nansel added that the suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the police, but one of them was successfully apprehended after a chase.

“Upon sighting the police, the occupants of the vehicle made an attempt to escape. However, one of the suspects was chased and arrested, while others escaped,” Nansel stated.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the arrested suspect has since confessed to the crime, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplices.

Commending the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect and the recovered vehicle to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.

The Nasarawa State Police Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
