Police arrest two over murder of 32-year-old man in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers over murder of a 32-year-old man, Sirajo Abdulhamid, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 said the suspects shot Abdulhamid in the head and stole his motorcycle in the presence of his wife and another female.

“On 16th December, 2025, at about 1030hrs, the Bununu Divisional Headquarters received information via telephone call from a good Samaritan. The report stated that on the same date at about 1600hrs, one Sirajo Abdulhamid, ‘m’, aged 32 years, of Badara village, Dull ward, Tafawa Balewa LGA, was travelling on a Boxer motorcycle (without a registration plate) to Burga village,” the statement read.

“He was conveying two females: Khadija Abdulhamid, ‘f’, aged 25 years, and Asiya Sirajo, ‘f’, aged 20 years (wife of the deceased). They were attacked by unidentified armed robbers who shot Mr. Abdulhamid in the head and made off with the motorcycle.

“Upon receipt of the anonymous report, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc(+), mni dispatched a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Jamilu Kabir, in conjunction with Danga Security and special hunters to the scene. They swiftly swung into action and evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical attention.

“He was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment. Subsequently, an autopsy was conducted, and the corpse was released to relatives for burial according to religious rites.”

“Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the following suspects: (1) Isah Shuaibu, ‘m’, aged 18 years, (2) Abdulsalam Shuaibu, ‘m’, aged 20 years.

“An identification parade was conducted, during which the wife of the deceased, Asiya Sirajo, identified the suspects as the assailants who attacked them and snatched the motorcycle. Investigation is ongoing.

“Investigation is underway, after which the suspects will be profiled and charged to court upon its completion.”
