Bandits gun down seven, abduct others in Sokoto fresh attack

No fewer than seven unsuspecting residents of Kyara village, a remote border community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been killed by bandits terrorizing the area.

A security expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed this in a post on X, said the sad incident occurred early hours of Thursday.

The attack, according to report, happened in a village close to the border between Nigeria and Niger Republic

Makama said the bandits, who were said to be in large numbers and armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.

During the attack, seven persons were shot dead, while two others sustained gunshot injuries.

He said about three villagers were also kidnapped, and an unspecified number of domestic animals were rustled.

According to him, security operatives immediately evacuated the corpses and the injured victims to a hospital for autopsy and medical treatment.
