The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man over alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and theft in Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohd of Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, was arrested in the early hours of January 23, 2026, following intelligence provided by a concerned resident.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the command received credible information at about 4:00am regarding the activities of suspected burglars operating around Bomala Quarters in Akko Local Government Area.

“Acting promptly on the tip-off, police operatives stormed the area and apprehended the suspect after he allegedly broke into a residential building and stole valuable items,” Abdullahi said.

During the operation, officers recovered a Haojue Lucky motorcycle, ash in colour, with registration number JMT 523 UC, which was reported stolen.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the motorcycle, estimated to be worth ₦750,000, was found in the suspect’s possession at the time of his arrest.

He added that preliminary investigations showed that the suspect confessed to the offence and named another accomplice, Dauda Maigadgi, who is currently on the run.

“The suspect admitted his involvement in the burglary and also confessed to several cases of phone theft within Gombe metropolis,” Abdullahi stated.

The suspect is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected criminal gang.
