The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed on Monday night that suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Gare Village in Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, abducting six members of a family.
The command indicated that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.
A press statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said that police operatives, in collaboration with sister security agencies, had launched an intensified rescue operation.
He explained that a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force had been deployed to Gare Village and surrounding communities to carry out the rescue mission.
Nguroje added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, had ordered sustained search-and-rescue efforts as part of heightened security measures across Madagali and other border communities.
The measures, he said, are aimed at ensuring the safe recovery of the abducted victims.
