Police arrest man, 41, for alleged gun shooting, possession of arms in Edo

Edo State Police Command said it arrested a 41-year-old, Emmanuel Omorodion for alleged gun shooting in the state.

Eno Ikoedem, the Public Relations Officer of the Command disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, and made available to newsmen in Benin City.

Ikoedem said the suspect was arrested on Sunday at about 3am by operatives of Eagle Crack Unit led by CSP Ezekiel Ojeifo.

She said on the fateful day, the Command received credible intelligence regarding repeated gunshots emanating from a residence along Erediuwa Street, off Sapele Road, Benin City.

“Upon storming the area, the hoodlums fled and were given a hot chase until they arrested one of them named Emmanuel Omorodion ‘m’, aged 41 years”, she said.

Ikoedem said one English-made double-barrel gun and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspect.

She said the notable operational successes recorded across the Benin City metropolis within the past week were as a result of sustained intelligence-led patrols, rapid response to distress calls, and proactive crime-fighting strategies under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.
