The Nasarawa State Police command has rescued two persons and arrested a man suspected to be involved in kidnapping activities in different parts of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ramhan Nansel.
According to the statement, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, police patrol operatives rescued a man identified as David O in the Kireyi area after a motorcycle rider who conveyed him from Lafia to Assakio diverted into the bush in an attempt to kidnap him.
The statement added that the intervention followed credible intelligence, noting that the victim managed to escape from the kidnappers’ camp before the arrival of the police, while the suspect fled the scene.
In a related development, the police said they arrested one Jamilu Salisu from Dutsinma in Katsina State over the alleged abduction of a primary two pupil of UBE Gitata.
The statement explained that the suspect was arrested based on information provided by a community member, while his accomplice escaped.
Investigations are ongoing to ensure the suspect is charged to court.
