Police kill suspected bandit, recover arms, ammunition in Kebbi

Kebbi State Police Command has intercepted an unregistered motorcycle conveying two suspected armed bandits in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi.

According to Usman, operatives of the Police Special Tactical Squad, while on routine patrol around 9:00 p.m. on February 4, 2026, intercepted an unregistered Boxer motorcycle conveying two suspected armed bandits in Bagudo.

He said the suspects opened fire on the police during a security check, prompting a gun duel.

“One of the suspects was neutralised during the exchange, while the second suspect fled the scene with gunshot injuries,” Usman said, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Items recovered from the operation included 586 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, one camouflage uniform, a military-style bag, two mobile phones, N404,500 in cash, and the unregistered motorcycle used by the suspects.

The police spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Mohammed Hadeija, has reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and called on residents to provide credible information to support security operations
