Ondo: How our troops neutralized terrorists, killed two suspects – Army spokesperson

Men of the Nigerian Army, 32 Artillery Brigade, Ondo State, have killed two suspected terrorists, who are part of a gang terrorising the northern senatorial district of the state.

The suspects were neutralised following an operation by the officers at Forward Operating Base, FOB along the Akunu-Auga road.

While confirming the development, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Irabor Njoka, disclosed that the operation was carried out along with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as the Amotekun corps, as well as local vigilantes.

According to Irabor, the operatives received credible intel on the movement of the terrorists within the axis and swiftly mobilised to neutralise the suspect criminals.

Irabor stated that during the operation, there was an exchange of gunfire which led to the killing of two of the suspects and bullet wounds on other members of the gang, who escaped.

After the operation, the Army spokesperson disclosed that one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile handsets, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms and the sum of ₦39,000, among other personal effects, were recovered.

He said, “Success of the operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action and movement, as well as to protect lives and property across Ondo State.

“The Brigade will continue to sustain aggressive clearance and exploitation operations, intensify patrols along identified criminal corridors and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders to ensure a secured environment for residents.

“Members of the public are urged to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies, as public cooperation remains critical to the ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.”
