Edo chief killed as suspected gunmen abduct daughter, injure wife

Suspected kidnappers have shot and killed a community leader in Edo State and abducted his daughter along with another young woman.

The incident occurred at around 9:40 pm on February 23 at the victim’s home in Idoa community, Esan West Local Government Area.

The victim, identified as 50-year-old Chief Jimoh Jacob, was reportedly attacked at his residence.

He died during the assault. His 23-year-old daughter, Nene Jacob, was taken by the gunmen together with a friend, whose name has not yet been confirmed.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to a morgue for examination.

Security operatives have launched a search operation in the area.

They are combing nearby bushes and surrounding communities in a bid to rescue the abducted women and apprehend those responsible.
