Borno: Police intercept 13 sacks of vandalised high-tension cables, arrest two suspects

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, under the Anti-Social Vice Unit of the Borno State Police Command have arrested two suspected high-tension electric cable vandals in Gubio Local Government Area.

The Command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the suspects were apprehended on January 26, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m., following credible intelligence.

According to him, the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Saminu Muhammed and 25-year-old Mohammed Bukar, were found in possession of 13 sacks containing vandalised high-tension electrical cables.

The cables were reportedly concealed and disguised as animal feed.

Daso said the case has been expanded for further discreet investigation and prosecution.

He added that the arrest forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to curb the theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure across the state.
