Suspected terrorists attack Yobe town, set market ablaze

Assailants suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists last night launched an attack on Geidam town in Yobe State, setting ablaze some major parts of the town’s market.

According to local sources, flames were seen engulfing a section of the market.

“As I am talking to you now, the market is on fire, but I cannot confirm the details because I am currently hiding”, one of the sources said.


It was also gathered that the attackers set ablaze vehicles belonging to vigilantes.

Gaidam, the headquarters of Gaidam local government area, located in the northern part of Yobe State, had earlier faced attacks linked to Boko Haram insurgents.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
