Police burst burglary, phone snatching syndicate in Yobe, arrest suspects

Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have cracked down on criminal syndicate involved in burglary, theft, and phone snatching.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, State this in a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to newsmen in Damaturu.

According to the statement, seven members of the syndicate were arrested, and stolen phones recovered.


“In a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of ‘A’ Division, Damaturu, between 16th and 19th April, 2026, a notorious criminal syndicate operating within Nayinawa, Bindigari, One Million Road, and Pompomari wards of Damaturu was successfully dismantled.

“The operation led to the arrest of seven (7) suspects identified as: Usman Mohd, 20 years; Abubakar Adamu, 20 years; Mohd Ibrahim, 22 years; Mohd Goni, 19 years; Khalifa Mohd, 19 years; Abubakar Mohammed, 19 years and Ali Mohammed, 23 years,” the statement added.

It said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of burglary, theft, and phone snatching incidents within Damaturu metropolis.

“Investigation is ongoing with a view to prosecuting the suspects accordingly,” the Command said.
