Troops Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Weapons in Cross River

Troops of 13 Brigade have apprehended a suspected notorious cultist and recovered weapons during an operation in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State.

In a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, it was stated that the arrest took place at about 11:00 p.m. on April 29 at a checkpoint in the Camp 4 area of Pamol Plantation.

Security sources told Makama that the suspect was intercepted by troops during routine checks at the checkpoint.

Items recovered from him include a locally made pistol, a machete, an axe and a knife.

The sources further disclosed that the suspect, along with the recovered weapons, is in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

“The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action,” the sources said.

They added that security operations have been stepped up across the area as part of efforts to curb cult-related activities and other forms of criminality.
