NSCDC Apprehends Cable Vandals In Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, has apprehended suspected vandals allegedly involved in the destruction of armoured telecommunications cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.

The suspects were reportedly arrested while carrying out the act after residents alerted operatives of the command to suspicious activities within the community.

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, Oluwaseun Abolurin, said the operation was successful due to credible intelligence provided by members of the community.

Abolurin noted that the breakthrough formed part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat vandalism and protect critical infrastructure across Lagos State.

He commended residents of the Amuwo community for their cooperation and timely information sharing, which he said played a key role in the arrest of the suspects.

According to him, the growing partnership between residents and security agencies was strengthened through community engagement programmes organised by the command in the first and second quarters of 2026 alongside relevant stakeholders.

The command added that investigations into the incident were ongoing.
