Troops neutralize 2 bandits, recover arms, charm vests in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), deployed at Sarkin Kudu in Ibi Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State, have neutralised two suspected bandits during a well-coordinated clearance operation.

Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement, said the success followed credible intelligence received from a reliable source on May 18, 2026, regarding the activities of suspected bandits at a hideout around Dooshima District in the Sarkin Kudu area of Ibi LGA.

The statement said that during the encounter, troops successfully neutralised two suspected bandits, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.


Items recovered include: one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one locally fabricated pistol, one Android phone, three small mobile phones, two charm vests and other personal items.

It said the recovered items are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

It added that the Commander, 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their courage, bold handling and swift response.
