The Jigawa State Police Command says it has uncovered a criminal conspiracy and foiled a suspected kidnapping plot.
Spokesman of the command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday.
He said the action led to the arrest of two suspects before the planned operation could be carried out.
According to the statement, “on May 23, 2026, its operatives arrested a 55 year-old Adamu Gari, of Zabo Kafi Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40 years, of Fatiske Village in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State”
It said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, alongside other members of their syndicate, allegedly conspired to kidnap two individuals from Jama’are town in Bauchi State.
They were apprehended in their respective hometowns before the planned abduction could be executed, thereby preventing the commission of the crime.
The Police Command said the suspects are currently assisting investigators with useful information to aid the arrest of other members of the criminal network and unravel the full details of the plot.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other suspects connected to the conspiracy.
