Troops Intercept Vehicle Conveying Suspected Stolen Livestock in Kebbi

Troops of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with members of the Forest Guards, have intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected stolen livestock in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The development was contained in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle.

According to the post, the interception occurred at about 6:28 a.m. on July 7 along the Kangiwa–Kamba Road during a routine fighting patrol by the joint security team.


The troops reportedly stopped a suspicious vehicle and recovered 14 goats, four rams, one mobile phone and N17,600 in cash.

The suspects were arrested and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The recovered livestock and other exhibits were also transferred to the police as part of the investigation.

According to security sources, the operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat livestock rustling and other criminal activities threatening rural communities in Kebbi State and the wider North-West region.
