4 Policemen Face Orderly Room Trial Over Extortion Of ICPC Chair – IGP Disu

Four police officers accused of extorting ₦53,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Dr. Musa Aliyu, are now facing orderly room trial.

The disclosure came while Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, was fielding questions from journalists after the decoration of 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs and 17 Commissioners of Police, CPs at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, this Tuesday.

The IGP also warned the newly promoted senior officers to uphold integrity while shunning corruption, abuse of power and misconduct.

While reassuring the public on the Force’s commitment to adequate internal security, the IGP highlighted the Force’s operational gains since the last conference with the Police strategic managers.

The Police Chief said the Nigeria Police Force will remain focused on accountability, professionalism and intelligence-led policing, maintaining that officers found guilty of misconduct will be disciplined in line with established procedures as efforts continue to strengthen public confidence and improve security across the country.
