IGP moves to calm retired Cops, pledges better welfare

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, on Thursday assured retired police officers that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would intensify efforts to improve their welfare and address lingering concerns.

Disu gave the assurance during a consultative meeting with a delegation of the Police Retired Officers Forum at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The meeting focused on issues affecting retired police personnel, particularly concerns over the administration of their welfare and other post-service benefits.

The IGP told the delegation that the welfare of retired officers remains a top priority for the Force Management Team, stressing that discussions on their well-being are regularly featured at management meetings.

According to him, the Police leadership is committed to ensuring that retired officers receive the attention and dignity they deserve after years of dedicated service to the nation.

Disu also pledged sustained engagement with retired personnel, describing their wealth of experience and institutional knowledge as invaluable assets to the continued growth and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the IGP assured the retirees that the Force would continue to explore practical measures to improve their welfare and strengthen the relationship between serving and retired officers.

The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of its personnel by promoting their welfare during active service and ensuring continued support in retirement.
